A Horse Drawn Carriage Ride ---- A Horse Lover's Dream-Come-True
She need not be a princess to arrive at a her special occasion by horse drawn carriage.    There are services available in most areas throughout the country who can provide this dream-come-true for you and the horse lover in your life.

Find a Horse Drawn Carriage
These services are sometimes called "Liveries", so look for Livery in your local phone book.   One example is Ironton Livery in the Allentown, PA area. 

Other times, this service is available through a horse farm or equestrian center, such as the Carriage Service available through Blue Star Equiculture

A great way to find a horse drawn carriage is through Carriage Operators of North America at www.CONA.org.    Check that the drivers and vehicles are licensed by your state.

What's Possible?
Of course, we need to be realistic with what is possible.   No matter how well trained, horses are wild animals, and need to be in comfortable situations to do their jobs.  It may not be appropriate to have the horse bring you right to the occasion venue, so, be open to other ideas.  

Instead of arriving at the busy conference center for the prom, perhaps the horse drawn carriage can transport the couple from your home to her date's parents home.       Perhaps it can bring the wedding couple to a park after the ceremony, rather than to the reception hall - 20 miles across town. 

Or, ask the carriage service operator for suggestions - she likely knows of a beautiful spot for a carriage ride on your special day. A lovely ride in a scenic spot, all dressed in her finery will be a dream come true.... transportation between point A and B is hardly the point.

The cost will likely be significantly less if you meet at their location.   Expect to pay about 60$ for a 30 minute ride for 2.    More if the driver, horses, and carriage need to meet you at your location (and then drive home afterwards)

Special Events Made More Special with Horses
Consider taking your daughter for a horse drawn carriage ride..... 

• On her Graduation Day.... in cap and gown, before the ceremony.
• On her Birthday... perhaps with a friend, perhaps with Mom and Dad.
• Before the Prom or Homecoming Dance --  in her fancy dress.... with or without her date.
• Before her First Communion, Bat Mitzvah, or Quincinera (remember, the carriage need not take her to the venue).

Whatever you choose, it will be a cherished memory forever.

Horse Apparel for Young Girls - Sneakers Shaped as Horses

Are these not THE cutest shoes you have ever seen?

 They just might be my favorite item of horse apparel I have ever seen.   

They are by Weboo Shoes, come in 4 color choices, in youth shoe sizes. These aqua and purple horses are called "Tisha".    Weboo states they were looking to bring "play value" into kid's footwear.   Epic Win????

"Pinto"

At 45$, they are a mighty high price point for my store, so I do not expect to be able to offer them.  With the detailing and uniqueness, and range of colors, their price is actually lower than I expected.

"Sparkles" In sz 1 and 2 also.

 My horse loving daughter thinks they are super cute too, and I just might order a pair to squish her feet into.   If they don't fit, we can just play with them!

Horses in the Royal Wedding

If your daughter is horse-crazy, she might enjoy watching for the horses during the April 29 Royal Wedding.

While Kate Middleton has opted to arrive to the church by car rather than horse-drawn carriage, there will be plenty of horses parading in the after-service procession to Buckingham Palace.

The procession TO Buckingham Palace will include 2 distinct groups of horses.   It's scheduled to begin at approximately 12:05pm London time (7:05am EDT, 4:05am Pacific).  

A stall fit for a Royal Horse - Royal Mews Stable

The Royal Mews Carriage Horses  will be pulling 5 carriages and riding as outriders alongside the carriages. Most of these horses are Cleveland Bays, along with some Irish Draughts and some Dutch Warmbloods.

The "Crown Equerry" (head of the Royal Mews) will see to it that each horse has been exercised and meticulously groomed for the event, and that all riders and personnel are attired in appropriate livery. The "Head Coachman" has carefully matched the horses and riders to their jobs.

Both are prepared for dry or wet conditions. Of course, coordinating so many horses, riders, groomsman, and helpers is a huge task. Mark Hargreaves, the Head Coachmen, has said "you just cannot guarantee horses, so you've just got to get on with it."

Household Cavalry Mounted Regiment  - 150 British Soldiers and Horses of the Household Cavalry Mounted Regiment will escort the Queen.

 These horses are mostly solid black, and mostly Irish draught-horses purchased from Ireland. All were selected for their appearance, as well as for their ability to carry the weight of a soldier and his full ceremonial uniform.

The Regiment - both horses and riders - have been training and practicing, AND being inspected for every detail of their uniforms and grooming, as well as how they ride together as a team.

The Royal Wedding may not have "something for everyone". But it certainly has something for those who enjoy horses.
